OUR OWN GOLD COAST WOMAN OF THE YEAR
We are very proud to say that our own Alana Beattie was last year's Gold Coast Woman of the Year. The Woman in Business Awards recognise female entrepreneurs in Australia who are running successful and innovative businesses.
For Alana and so many other businesswomen, success started when she turned her passion for coffee into business with her husband Mark. Recognising the growing coffee roasting industry in Australia, they saw the need for the supply of coffee roasting equipment, maintenance, training and innovation.
The business concept has grown to the point that Coffee Roasters Australia is the nation's leading supplier in coffee roasting equipment. They design and manufacture equipment, refurbish old roasters, provide training in roasting and consult on creating the best coffee blends.
Coming from a successful corporate career, business diversity is a key point for Alana. That why she's steered the business into the coffee pod market with Capsule Pack, packaging locally roasted coffee into pods that are compatible with Nespresso and Lavazza Blue coffee makers.
She likes to say she's "involved in pretty much everything in coffee".
Coffee Roasters is continuing to grow and have set up their first offshore roasting facility in Hong Kong earlier this year, marking a break into China and plans for the United States. While there's plenty of satisfaction working in a successful business and an industry she's passionate about, Alana was incredibly happy to receive the award.
"It was pretty amazing being named Business Woman of the Year and the award has really lifted my profile in the community and within the industry".
To be named Business Woman of the Year you can put yourself forward or be nominated by a colleague, friend or family member, wit over $30,000 in prizes to be won.
This is the fourth year on the Gold Coast for the Women in Business Awards, which have experienced a successful expansion into Toowoomba in 2015 and launching in Brisbane this year too.
